Thai Airways Economy Class Bangkok to Tokyo Review 2026: Comfortable Seats, Delicious Meals & Warm Thai Service

Hi, I’m Sopit T. from SOPITT magazine! My partner and I love exploring new destinations, and Tokyo is always high on our list. When we fly from Bangkok to Tokyo, we often choose Thai Airways for its reliable service and genuine Thai hospitality. Here’s our honest review of the Economy Class experience on this popular route.

The flight from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK) to Tokyo Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND) takes about 6.5 to 7 hours. Thai Airways operates daily direct flights, making it convenient for both leisure and business travelers.

Flight Details & Booking Tips

Thai Airways usually operates this route with wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A350-900 or Boeing 777-300ER. Economy Class features a 3-3-3 seat configuration with a generous 32-inch pitch – noticeably better than many competitors on this long-haul route.

Current one-way Economy fares from Bangkok to Tokyo start around THB 8,000–15,000 (approx. $230–430 USD), depending on the season and how far in advance you book. Round-trip tickets often range from THB 20,000–35,000. Book early for the best prices, especially during cherry blossom season or year-end holidays.

Seat Comfort & Cabin

The seats are well-padded with adjustable headrests and a decent recline. Legroom feels spacious for Economy, and the cabin is kept clean and quiet. On the A350, the air feels fresher and the windows are larger, which helps reduce jet lag. Power outlets and USB ports are available at every seat.

We managed to sleep comfortably for several hours – something not always possible in Economy class!

In-Flight Service

Thai Airways cabin crew are consistently polite, smiling, and attentive. They speak good English and make you feel genuinely welcome. Service is efficient without being rushed – a perfect balance for a medium-haul flight.

Meals & Catering

This is where Thai Airways really shines in Economy. Meals are hot, flavorful, and include Thai-inspired options alongside Western and Japanese choices. On our recent flight, we enjoyed green curry with chicken, stir-fried beef with rice, fresh fruit, and dessert. Complimentary drinks include wine, beer, soft drinks, tea, and coffee.

Portions are generous, and the food quality is above average for Economy class. Many passengers say the Thai dishes taste restaurant-level.
